First edition of the first book by Eric Kroll. A mix of portraits and interviews with sex workers, Kroll worked on this project at night after working on his commercial projects during daylight. The women are photographed in their place of work, in at least thirty different cities. Partially funded by a CAPS grant, which later turned into quite the scandal, this project is as relevant as it was when released. With the interviews printed on different colored paper stock and the endpapers resembling sleazy advertisements.
Wrappers worn, spine bent and heavily creased. We’d like to think somebody actually read the interviews and not just looked at the photographs.
