Description

Tilburg, El Salvador Kommitee Nederland, 1982

Stapled, 21 x 14, 5 cm, unpaginated ( 22 p.), illustrated throughout in black and white.

A perfect example of the poetics of Hans Clavin, who frequently uses repetition and the juxtaposition between image and language. This rare publication was published as a funding effort for the struggle in El Salvador in the early 80’s. As mentioned on the last page, all proceeds from sales goes to the FMLN-FDR resistance.

The same image is repeated throughout the book, with varying statements on wall street above it. A postcard with the English statement ‘wall street awaits’ was also published by exp/press, probably around the same time. In 2012 an original collage with the same picture and similar statements appeared at auction.

Worldcat locates three copies, one inthe Netherlands  and two in the USA.

Some soiling to the wrappers, some foxing to the ends, insides clean and bright.
