Black text on newspaper stock, 88 x 58 cm. Text in Dutch/French.
A pamphlet published as a reaction to the exhibition “American Art in Belgium” organized by the Palais des Beaux-Arts (from May 25 to August 28, 1977) in Brussels. The exhibition was supported by the United States Embassy in Brussels, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the two Ministries of Cultural Affairs and held under the auspices of the Belgo-American Association and showed the numerous works of art by American artists in private Belgian collections made between 1945 and 1975. This pamphlet or rather tract was signed by international artists from the Art and Language group, American artists like Keith Sonnier Sol Lewitt, Dan Graham and Joseph Kosuth and artists from Belgium. The action was organised by Jacques Charlier, Lili Dujourie, Guy Mees, Panamarenko, Maurice Roquet and Jan Vercruysse according to the announcement sheet. Lotte Boogh Mees, the wife of artist Guy Mees, was the editor responsible. Full list or artist who signed the pamphlet:

A good copy, some discoloration due to being stored folded.
We join:
A photocopied sheet with the text on the poster in English. No translator or publisher credited. Art upside down printed upside down is the first line of the text. Scarce. We didn’t know this translation existed and are not sure if the copy is original or a later photocopy.
A recto only sheet announcing the distribution of the poster with a list of artists who were asked to sign. Not all artists ended up signing , an interesting list of name to compare. The sheet mentions a text being sent along, but we only have the announcement which is a shame as it would have been interesting to compare it to the text on the poster.
The uncommon exhibition catalogue for “American Art in Belgium”.
